Biography

FritzPict

Fritz Mills is a leading media and technology industry executive with a successful track record of building and managing broadcast properties, cable networks, syndicated networks, and satellite–based digital distribution networks.

Before forming Media LightBridge with Mr. Murphy, Mr. Mills was one of the founding partners of Television Advertising Solutions, LLC. TVAS offers unwired networks comprised of local News telecasts and Golf telecasts that provide national advertisers with upscale, high–profile, high–value programming environments. In today’s challenging media environment, TVAS has excelled in providing highly–rated, competitively–priced vehicles to advertisers.

Prior to that, Mr. Mills developed unwired networks for TelAmerica Media. Mr. Mills created and patented algorithms for synthesizing local cable spots into national commercial units. Sales revenue, which was less than $7 million when Mr. Mills was recruited, exceeded $60 million when Mr. Mills left, and the company was sold.

In the middle 1990s, Mr. Mills was tapped to be President & COO of Adpath, a start–up company that provides small– and medium–sized local cable operators with digital ad insertion equipment. Adpath operates the equipment remotely, inserting advertising and retrieving performance metrics via satellite and the internet, on a revenue–sharing basis. By providing access to national advertising revenues, Adpath offers a strong revenue stream to small–town cable operators who could not have done so on their own.

In the early 1990s, Mr. Mills, along with Mr. Murphy, was part of the elite team of professional broadcasters who built and operated Fox Net, Fox Broadcasting’s first national cable network. Under Mr. Mills’ direction as head of advertising sales, Fox Net ranked, on a revenue–per–subscriber basis, as the ninth-highest billing cable network in the US, and returned profit margins exceeding 40% of sales.

Previously, as part of a similar team of professional broadcasters that also included Mr. Murphy, Mr. Mills built and managed a succession of UHF television stations across the US, including WGBO, Chicago; WMSN, Madison; WNAC, Providence; WFYZ, Nashville; and WSMH, Flint, MI.

Mr. Mills began his career selling advertising for the Chicago Tribune. After he moved into TV advertising sales, he spent his early years working at several TV station rep firms in New York, Chicago, and St. Louis, including HRP, Telerep, and Katz. Altogether, Mr. Mills has more than 35 years experience in media and technology sales and management, including more than 15 years of experience building and managing start–up operations.

Mr. Mills is a summa cum laude graduate of Northern Michigan University with a degree in Economics, and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
